World Series with mother nature

Second Coming May Be Needed To Start To Restore The World

Play Ball Already

The major crisis facing the world that has been branded ‘climate change’ is simply a human power struggle that holds Mother Nature hostage.

This post is not about the warmists and denialists, that’s another story.

Let’s look at the ‘green’ side of the power struggle.

There are tens of thousands of bureaucrats and academics employed by the topic today, they are generally rather bright folks, one thing for certain that they know is from what side/source their bread is buttered.

There are just 3 power words that define the green world, Protection, Conservation, and Restoration. The first two are the domain of the bureaucrats and academics the third is the domain of real producers and the inventors, technologies and engineering that are produced. It is analogous to the endless pre-game punditocracy over which team is going to win the World Series of Baseball before the real players get onto the field into the dust and doing and play the game over its allotted short few hours.

In the industries of bureaucracy and academia there is no bottom line, the money that finances the payrolls there for all intents and purposes appears like magic, ah yes and there is generally a suspension of what most folks consider a game time, the game is endless. What every such employee (gov’t and academia) therein defends first and foremost is that seemingly endless stream of magical money (some call it taxes). Therein lies one of the most dire and deadly consequences of the world of climate change, the seemingly endless, persistent and pressing effort to sustain the status quo machine, the magic payroll.

The best defense is a good offense!

In this world where protection and conservation have the high ground and the lion’s share of the paid salaries rule the roost. They do so because in those pursuits there is no end, there will never be a completion of the task to protect and conserve, it’s every green climate bureaucrat and academician’s pension plan. Heaven forbid should any technological solution, aka restoration, that has a short finite engineering lifespan – in engineering this is the long-established 35 year plant life cycle. Ah there is my real magic word, plant.

Indeed the very language of climate change is rigorously controlled – spin, fake news, propaganda – call it what you will. Under no circumstances are restoration technologies allowed to stand as equal to the coveted endless roles of protection and conservation. It will, as has been shown in my 40 years of trying, be more difficult to establish RESTORATION than prying that hand gun from the cold dead hand of Charleston Heston to get the climate bureaucrats and academician’s to release their death grip on ‘climate change.’ To think that they, the tens of thousands with the paychecks to defend, will allow upstart ‘restorationists’ through, past their temple currency exchange booths, is going to take nothing short of a second coming.

Don’t think I have forgotten the even larger hordes of what are the service industries that tend to the bureaucratic and academic fortresses of climate change establishment. They are amongst the most rabid or is should I say vapid defenders of the faith

We few engineers are simply going to have to struggle through with having our inventions refused. There is nothing new in this rejection of the new. Here’s a few quotes to remind you.

“The best way to predict your future is to create it.” Abraham Lincoln

“There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture out of such trifling investment of fact.” Mark Twain, Life on the Mississippi

“It’s like religion. Heresy in science is thought of as a bad thing, whereas it should be just the opposite.” – Thomas Gold

When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong. – Arthur C. Clarke’s First Law

It is through science that we prove, but through intuition that we discover. – H. Poincare

A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it. – Max Planck

A man with a new idea is a crank until he succeeds. – Mark Twain

Never attribute to conspiracy that which is adequately explained by stupidity. – Russ George

Don’t worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are that good, you’ll have to ram them down people’s throats. – Howard Aiken

I am tired of all this sort of thing called science here … We have spent millions in that sort of thing for the last few years, and it is time it should be stopped. – U.S. Senator Simon Cameron, on the Smithsonian Institute (1901)

The one who says it cannot be done should never interrupt the one who’s doing it! The Roman Rule

“I never make predictions, especially about the future” – Casey Stengel

There is an old but very true adage about the difference between American’s and Canadian’s. We all know, or at least those of us like me who have been Canadian bureaucrats, that Canadian’s follow rules and respect government while American’s are inventors and cowboys.

The joke goes, ‘The difference between an American and a Canadian is that every American grows up in awe of inventors who became rich and wants to be one, Canadian’s grow up wanting to get a job as a bureaucrat.’ It all goes back to the gene pool selection process that was the American revolutionary war when so many of the British loyalists, the red coat bureaucrats, moved north and founded Canada. The revolutionary thinkers and doers were left to create the technological marvel that is the USA.
